Streaming is one of the most exciting phenomena of the modern world. Music and movies move fast and don’t wait for you to catch up! More music is created, consumed, and heard per day than ever before. Whether youre listening to a 3 hour album at a low volume while on your laptop in bed at night, or listening to a single mix in the car on your way to work, the nature of streaming is to throw all the dynamic range at you. With this in mind, Dynameter wants to be the single most capable and trusted way to deal with the issues of compression and limiting that all your music is coming through with. It is a one-stop solution for all your mastering, mixing, and editing needs.
Steve Fitzmaurice has created Dynameter, a plug-in for the DAWs and mixers to allow seamless communication and collaboration to be fast and easy in the form of an extremely effective metering system. It is perhaps the most important part of the mastering suite as it can see the ‘health’ of the audio and determine what you need to do to bring a song back into balance.
The Hi-Range Dynameter has three levels of accuracy:
- precise: refines the result to provide just the relevant part of the waveform
- medium: refines the part of the waveform and provides two channels for a louder and softer part of the waveform
- narrow: this level of accuracy is not really intended to be useful and is used only to indicate that the job has been done. It tells you whether or not the audio is an unprocessed audio source, whether the audio is a recording, whether the audio is sampled at more than 44,100 samples per second, and if you are dealing with a >2kHz audio source.
